Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / whelping day?

Hi Everyone

I was wondering if those of you that have whelped puppies from the same bitch have found that their whelping day has been generally been the same, give or take a day?
the reason I ask is my bitch had 3 breedings her first time and this breed usually whelps early rather than late so I was watching from day 56 of the first breeding. she ended up whelping on day 64 from the last breeding which was 66 from the second and 68 from the first breeding !   She only had 2 pups in there.  this time she has 4 possibly 5 pups.  do you think she will follow the same pattern of whelping nearer to the last breeding?  she was bred on the same days of her cycle as last time.
she is now 61 from the first 60 from the second and 58 from the third breeding.

she has no signs yet, temp is in the mid 99's F  .  puppies are very active.  she is huge because this is a toy breed and she is pretty shortbacked.  I have been able to express a few drops milk.  she yelps if I squeeze her nipples at all :)  last time she had milk quite a few days before.

thanks

One of my girls has had 3 litters - now spayed - but first whelped on day 63, then 60, then 62

I have had the same bitch whelp at 59, 63 and 66 days, so each pregnancy is different.  Smaller litters tend to go later.

have any of you found the milk situation was different each time?  did that seem to come in around the same time before whelping?  she does have a little bit now.

well, it appears she is in the beginning stages of labor.  she has lost the mucus plug, didn't eat all day and her temp was down.  what concerns me is she did this same thing last time and lost the first puppy.  she yelps periodically. I know she is a bit of a baby because she does that if you lightly squeeze her nipples also.  when the pups move down she yelps.  has this happened to anyone else?  I'm not talking about  when they are in the birth canal and on their way out.  I checked and there is nothing in the birth canal.  she is now resting and actually ate a little bit.  I wish she would go by the book :)
I don't like when she yelps like that.  It scares me like something is stuck.  I spoke with my vet and he wasn't concerned.  I just wondered if anyone else has had a dog that does that.  she did spend most of the day staring  straight ahead.
