Back again. Kirra's teats are so full, poor baby, and milk is justing running out of them, they are pulling her stitches apart. The vet wants me to give Kirra 2 pups and obviously stay with her, but he said it is 48 hours now and she might take to them. I am so nervous and scared. My partner is going to hold her head, my dad is going to keep her legs straight so she doesnt curl in a ball and I will put 2 pups on, then we will let her go and watch..it sounds so barbaric and I am terrified, but I am really hoping that when she feels them relieving some of the milk she will come around. She is no where near as anxious today, not like she has been. He thinks the muzzle is going to stress her too much so he thinks this might work better.
I will let you all know what happens..

Not sure if this is any help at all BUT it is a personal experience. I have had plenty of cats (not dogs) that have had c-sections and yes, it is true that they don't know they have given birth and so will usually refuse the kittens for at least 3-4 days. And yes the kittens get filthy like your pups. At one stage I simply HAD to do something about a litter that was so dirty. I brought in a bowl of lukewarm water, dunked each kitten in it and carefully wiped it dry. They screamed and hated it. And when they screamed, THEN suddenly the mother's instinct kicked in, and after a while she snatched the kittens off me and started washing them and feeding them! May just be worth a try to see what happens if you deliberately make the puppies cry an extra lot.

Of you have her muzzled and it is one of the sock type then if she was just wanting to lick them then she could.  Really is worth a try.

I have used baby bath liquid (theat for human babies that doesn't need rinsing) and a flannel to clean Mum, and pups when needed.

If kirra has soo much milk  then try to get the puppies on....she may be coming round and want to see her babes..muzzle her if you think you need to, distract her and try to get them feeding..gently show her a pup and see how things go, she may want to clean them which is why she is kicking...
I hope things work out o.k for you.
Best Wishes Traceyxxx

If they smell of poo, then if she's muzzled ;) she may be prompted to clean them?  It may just help things to 'click'

Hope you can manage to get them plugged on as the relief they bring may help considerably.

Hope she comes good soon, this is so distressing for both of you.

Regards

I just took kirra into the pups in their carry case. SHe circled the box licking at the small slits...It has made me a little more confident that she is licking as she has never tried to lick them before. But then she got anxious. A pup was laying against the side and kirra was licking its fur and got upset, like she wanted it and bit it. I truley think though she was upset as she wants them now. I am npt going to wash them until we put them together soon as I am hoping she will clean them, it might start the ball rolling. I would have got 2 out then, but I am home alone at the moment and know I need help on this one.

That's so encouraging, I've got everything crossed here for you, wish you were closer and I could come over to help.
