Topic Dog Boards / General / Help - Which Odour Eliminator??
- By Dill [gb] Date 08.06.05 15:35 UTC
Lately I can smell urine smells in the garden/patio although I wash down regularly I want to be positive its not my garden which stinks (new next dorr neighbours staffs aren't cleaned regularly ;) ) and I'm trying to decide which one to buy.

I have used Odorkil in the past but wasn't keen on the smell of bubble gum it left behind.

Which is the most effective?  best value?  lasts longest?
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 08.06.05 15:38 UTC
Odorkil also do an "Ocean fresh" fragrance which I personally prefer!

OK - it could be called "Pacific fresh"/Sea fresh - it's something to do with the sea!!!

Thanks for that Margot, I haven't seen it on the web site tho, but I may be looking at a different product

Have you got a link I could go to?  not sure if its the same one I found and the bottle I have is from pre internet days - yes it lasted that long!!!     :D

http://www.animal-health.co.uk/

Haven't seen the ocean fresh stuff myself but would be ineterested in trying some :)

ps sorry just re read and you want the link to the stuff and not just the web site  :D
- By Dill [gb] Date 08.06.05 17:37 UTC
Lucy it doesn't say anything on the website about ocean fresh - just Odorkill :(  I also found a Vet Tek site which does a product called Odour Kill, but that doesn't mention ocean/pacific fresh either   - will the real Odor/Odour Kill  please stand up??
- By LJS Date 08.06.05 18:33 UTC
http://www.deltahygiene.co.uk/products.html#

Have found this which is in floral, lemon or peardrop flavour :) and only £3.98 per litre ! So much cheaper than the animal health odourkill  and it is a disinfectant :)

Will be ringing them tomorrow to get some ordered :)

No luck on the ocean fresh yet :D

What about Jeye's fluid :-) i use it 3 times a week on my patio and paths etc
- By Kkirgirl [gb] Date 08.06.05 22:30 UTC
I use Jeyes too. As long as it is hosed down properly with clean water after, and left to dry its safe for the dogs.

Gets rid of the smells and seems to be good at killing any algae that grows on flags or stones too! :D

Inside i use odorkill, not heard of a sea fresh one though! - now we are all on the quest for the new smell lol.
- By sonja [gb] Date 08.06.05 20:40 UTC
Thanks LIS me too  Love Sonja
- By Fillis Date 08.06.05 22:58 UTC
Cromessol is good for indoors - smells like raspberries.
- By Isabel Date 08.06.05 23:00 UTC
What kind of raspberries though? :D
- By Fillis Date 08.06.05 23:12 UTC
The proper ones...not the ones that dogs and men produce :D
- By LongDog [gb] Date 09.06.05 07:40 UTC
We use chromesol too as we dont like odorkill smell AND chromesol is a disinfectant too.

We have been recommended to use biological soap powder dissolved in a bucket of water and spread over the 'offending' area.
Seems to work OK and is cheap if you buy 'own-brand' powder rather than the big-brand names in tablet/sachet form.
Chuck - leave - swill.
Keep dogs off until swilled
- By Dill [gb] Date 09.06.05 08:54 UTC
At the moment I'm using Jeyes fluid, but those urine smells just don't seem to go :(  and all I can smell is Jeyes - I've begun to really hate the smell.
I have used Bio washing powder in the past for the patio and concrete but want to deodorise the flower borders without killing the flowers :)

I've also found Proffesional choice stuff (enzyme active) - anyone tried this?  It comes in red cherry and pacific blue.  Opinions please :)
- By Tiggey [gb] Date 09.06.05 13:57 UTC
I use the Professional Choice one and have found it to be efficient as well as leaving a pleasant smell,
previously I used the `bubble gum` one but when acidents occur inside I prefer any of the P. C. odours rather than the bubble gum smell.
- By Dill [gb] Date 09.06.05 16:36 UTC
Tiggey,

Thanks for that, can it be ordered by post or do I have to buy it from somewhere?  I've sent them an e-mail but had no reply
- By Sullysmum Date 09.06.05 16:39 UTC
I used to use bio soap powder but it left marks all over the patio when dry, so i now use bio liquid which disolves better.
- By Boxacrazy [gb] Date 09.06.05 18:27 UTC
Do you have contact details for Professional Choice?

Thanks
:)
- By LJS Date 09.06.05 16:54 UTC
I have spoken to the chap at Delta hygiene today and he make a regular trip six weekly trip to Oxford and so he is going to ring me a couple of days before and will bring me a box of four 5 litre bottles at a very good price :D :D

He says he supplies to a working kenneles and they have found it to be very good :)

I think he travels all over so worth giving him a ring to find out :)

I use the Professional Choice blue one on my patio and path, even use it in the house on the hard flooring and its excellent.

You can get it by post.
- By Dill [gb] Date 09.06.05 22:17 UTC
Boxercrazy here's the link, there's a contact link on the site.  I sent them an e-mail yesterday asking about P+P and haven't had a reply yet :(

http://www.ruvio.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Out/index.htm

Had an e-mail back from Vet-Tek (Odour Kill) and they only do the Bubble gum pong :( so I'll give that a miss ;)

Looking at all the info I think I'll give the professional choice one a try - if they ever tell me what P+P will be :)
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 09.06.05 22:32 UTC
I use a cheap bio soap powder gets rid of the smells and hasn't done any harm to my wooden or tiled floors and I mean the cheap stuff about £1.99 for a massive box :d
- By Dill [gb] Date 09.06.05 23:08 UTC
Yup,

Used the really cheap bio soap powder today and the garden doesn't whiff quite so much, but the border still pongs - its the one with staffies on the other side of the fence  so I want to use it on that.
- By Vicki [gb] Date 10.06.05 05:46 UTC
I tried to order the Professional Choice odour eliminator just now - P&P is £2.  However, the form INSISTS on you entering your "state" and as I am not in the USA, I don't have one.  I tried entering my county, but it just doesn't work.  Not sure how it ever will..... :(
- By Dill [gb] Date 10.06.05 09:30 UTC
I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and ..............telephone  :D

At least that way I'll know whats happening :)
- By Vicki [gb] Date 10.06.05 20:49 UTC
Any luck Dill??
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 10.06.05 21:10 UTC
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond :  here's the (cut & paste) link for Professional Choice Pacific Blue Odor Eliminator (I knew the sea came into it somewhere ;)  )

http://www.ruvio.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Out/index.htm

Hope that helps

Margot
- By Vicki [gb] Date 10.06.05 21:18 UTC
It does help Margot, but there is still the problem that I posted earlier :(
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 10.06.05 21:32 UTC
Sorry Vicki - blonde moment coinciding with senior moment plus Friday feeling - missed the point :(

However, if you contact Professional Choice by telephone , they will despatch to you the same day.

Hope that helps - or do my poor grey cells need more of a bump ??? :D

Margot
- By Dill [gb] Date 10.06.05 21:44 UTC
LOL,

I was going to telephone today but life took over - as it does -  so I'll have to do it tomorrow or monday - sigh.

Thanks for that Margot, I think it'll be one of those I get.. hmmm  Cherries or the Pacific???  BIG decision :D :D :D  But anything so long as its not bubble gum :D
- By Vicki [gb] Date 11.06.05 06:30 UTC
Looks like the website is now ok.  Just put your county where it asks for State (didn't work yesterday :( ) and it seemd to work.  P&P outside the Midlands was £2.

Cheers :)
- By Dill [gb] Date 11.06.05 19:23 UTC
Yay :)

I still think I'll oder over the phone on Monday morning, I like to be sure that the order will come :)
- By Tiggey [gb] Date 11.06.05 23:37 UTC
Sorry I didn`t reply earlier but I haven`t been on for a few days........I usually pick it up at shows but my daughter has odered it by phone and had it delivered with no problems.
- By Vicki [gb] Date 12.06.05 12:16 UTC
Oh dear - I have just received this email from Professional Choice

"Unfortunately we have discontinued the Odour Eliminator range due to ongoing problems with suppliers.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

Rats !

:( :(
- By Teri Date 12.06.05 13:06 UTC
Got a pong prob Vicki? :P

Have just noticed this (the thread not the pong!) - Have you tried Bac to Nature? (spelt without the "k" not just a typo :D  Here's their link http://www.bactonature.com

Teri
- By Vicki [gb] Date 12.06.05 15:26 UTC
LOL Teri - not yet, just getting prepared.  Have had the back garden paved over (dogs get walked on grass four times a day) and need to be prepared for the occasional pee on the patio.  The "kids" usually go out of the garden, but Lennon the Loony does LURVE doing the bum tuck zoomies just after it's rained and just after he's dug a big hole - hence mud all over the house, so the decision was made to have it done.  In all honesty I've wanted it done for some years, Lennon just finally made me put my thoughts into action.

I'll try the link you gave - the thought of it "minging" is naff LOL

Cheers  :D :D :D
- By Vicki [gb] Date 12.06.05 15:28 UTC
Hi Teri
Just on the Bac to Nature site - does their odour eliminator have any smell at all?

Thanks
- By Vicki [gb] Date 12.06.05 15:32 UTC
Teri
Ignore me - I've just read the customer comments re it having no smell - it looks perfect to me!  I'm off to order some now!

Thanks for the tip :D
- By Teri Date 12.06.05 16:40 UTC
Hi Vicki,

Wasn't intentionally ignoring you - had just paid a flying visit to the Forum :D   Anyway, see you're sorted.  Teri ;)
