can anyone tell me why
you cant teach your dog to sit if you are thinking of showing him?

you cant have a staffie as a pet and show dog?

how can you tell if u r dog is showing standard?

Its easier to teach your dog to stand first, if you teach him to sit he will usually keep sitting in the ring.  Mine are taught to stand in front of me but sit alongside me.

As long as its KC reg you can have it as both

The breeder of your dog can help you with this, you can also go along to shows and see for yourself by meeting people and their dogs

Yes you can show him as long as he is KC registered. You will find that 99% of show dogs are also pets....that includes my 3 show dogs who are treated exactly the same as our non show dog.
Your best bet is to go along to a local ring craft where they will teach you how to show and also join a staffy breed club.
Yes you can teach sit aswell as stand but if you are unsure it might be wise to reach stand only first. As far as 'show standard' is concerned...go along and have a go.You can judge certain bits yourself by reading the breed standard such as colour, height etc but a lot of the rest is down to an individuals interpretation...and thats what makes it fun
