My mum is picking a 8 month old pup up this weekend and I have a 5 month old pup (both same breed).

Both pups will need to be together on a regular basis and I was wondering how should I introduce them?

Mines a bitch and Mums will be a dog which has been neutered.

We only have a couple of weeks until mum is suppose to be looking after mine while I go on holiday if they don't settle right away I have found an alternative holiday home for Maggie.

Any ideas?

Asuming neither have any problems anyway they should be fine. Two youngesters will be a bit more work for you mum for sure while you are away but I am sure as long as she is aware of this she will manage. A baby gate sometimes comes in handy at these times.

Tolieting training may lapse a bit but they will be good company for each other.

As you have a couple of weeks let your puppy go up to your mums for a couple of hours to ensure all is well and your mum is coping OK.

We were thinking of introducing them on Sunday by taking both to the beach for a long walk and then back to mums for a few hours and see how they settle.

This way it gives Mums new pup time to get used to his surroundings but not not too long as he will have to share it soon.  Both are crate trained and I do have a pen for Maggies "time outs" which she loves been in.

Mum is aware its going to be a hand full and knows to expect accidents Thank god for puppy pads and newspaper.  Dads on holiday the week I'm away so both Mum & Dad will be at home.

I suppose once we have picked up Mums pup we will know what to do.

Mums pup is used to having other dogs around and Maggie has been going to socialiation class so shes been around other pups.

I can't wait for tonight.

MaggieMoo,

I take it the puppy dog is coming out of normal circumstances with it being 8 months old already. Not being nosey just wondered.

If you have a pen , that would be great for them outside in the garden if it is big enough for them at your mums.

We picked up mums pup over the weekend and he is lovely,  The only thing we can fault him on so far is he barks at people and dogs when he first meets them.  We took both pups to the beach for a long walk and after about 5 mins they was best friends.  They will need time out in their crates as they do get over excited and my pup just doesn't know when to stop.

So far so good although it is early days but things are looking promising.
