Topic Dog Boards / General / Poo odurs....Urgent....

Today when walking the dogs across the fields near a foot path they started rolling, I immediately thought, "oh Fox Crap!" and words to that effect.... Anyway I know how to get rid of fox poo smell, but this was human crap! Some disgusting person had been and left a huge steaming pile in the edge of the field. So came home with dogs coated in it, did the usual as for fox poo but this disgusting stuff is still lingering...... HELP!!!! Every where stinks! Any help please???? I am wondering if Zoflora very dilute might take away the pong or do you think it would harm the dogs? It will have to be something handy and in the house, as I am off to work later this afternoon and no time to shop.
Speakng to another dog walker to warn him about this, he told me it is not the first time he has come across this. He told me a lot of the local footpaths and areas near them have been used in this way by somebody.

This sounds ridiculous, I know, but tomato ketchup poured over a skunk-sprayed dog, then rubbed in will remove the odour of skunk, apparently (heard this on an American Aussie board).

Worth a try, I would think.......

Not ridiculous Margot at all ;)  well known in fact for working with fox poo odours.  Fortunately none of my current pack do this but I had one who was obsessed with it.  On a caravan weekend (confined space  ) didn't have tomato ketchup but had tinned tomato and also tomato puree so whizzed that up together and hey presto (smelt like an Italian rather than a Belgian :D )

I've also heard that white vinegar will do the trick.

I use tomato sauce to remove fox poo. I have this time tried tomato sauce, and vinegar but none have taken away the smell.
It's enough to make your eyes water, the pong in my house, from the skunky dogs....

Polly the same thing happened to me on a walk about a year ago. There were some workmen laying a new excercise run for horses and left a horrible mess in a hedge. My youngest decided to go and investigate and bluuurrr it was horrible. Why on earth they couldn't have buried it ! Hope your house soon gets rid of the stink :)

I just gave my stinky pup and good hose down and shampoo and luckily she wasn't too bad afterwards ! :D

Solved it! Wash down with soapy water, thoroughly hose, then raid youngest daughters perfume stash while she is at work. Grab nice smelling perfume and spray dogs! However do be prepared to duck when youngest comes home and says "Why are the dogs smelling of my Calvin Klien perfume?" Ooops didn't realise it was expensive.... :-D
