I'm looking for a book about showing dogs in the UK, anyone knows of a good one?

There is a fairly new one called 'From Beginners to Winners' written by one fo the regular contributers to one of the dog papers (but can't remeber which :D) Sure it will come up on a book search.
Hi i've got the book brainless mentioned and it's very good, tells you all the different classes and shows along with abbreviations, also how to stand different breeds and grooming. The author is Robert Killick and the books full title is Dog showing from beginners to winners.

As well as the Robery Killick one (I have that and it is good - got mine off the man himself at Crufts 2004) there's one by Peggy Grayson that's very good too - think it's called 'Good Showing'. She has written one on judging that's really good too.
Have a look for them on Ebay - seen all 3 on there before a lot cheaper than Amazon.

Yes, I've got that one - quite good, but really much more geared to the US scene than the UK. :-(

If you want a 'fictionalised' account about the showing world then get 'Straight up and Down please' by Margaret Duckett'.
It's a sensationalised verision of the kind of skullduggery that goes on in the show world and needs to be taken with a large bucket of salt ;) but is a fun read for all the show enthusuaists out there and I guarantee you will recognise some of the character types in there :D :D :D
