If pregnant, the vulva tends to remain larger and softer than usual.

As for vaginal abscesses - I'm not sure I'd mate a bitch until those had healed.

I wonder if Guest means the absesses have occured since the mating, JG, and is wondering if the pregnancy is now at risk.  In which I don't see there is any choice but to treat them as prescribed by the vet for the sake of the bitch and hope for the best.

Canine Herpes Virus, can cause blisters/absess on the vulva, I think I would get her to the vet and get her checked because if it is, then your litter is seriously at risk.

I hope it's not, but having had personal experience of this with one of my girls,  I must admit it rang alarm bells.
