As you yourself say, this dog is banned in the United Kingdom.   This is not the board to come on, and ask for an "illegal" dog.  Sorry.

Bandogs are not banned in the UK they usually are a crossbred dog from Neopolitan Mastiff x American Bulldog bloodlines, in the US they are crossed with Pits, only that cross would fall under a ban in the UK.

Hope this helps :)

I think Lokis is right, I'm sure they are on the list of banned breeds under the DDA

Breeds on the Dangerous dogs act:

the Pit Bull Terrier
the Japanese tosa
the Dogo Argentino
the Fila Braziliero

As Bandogs are not a breed they fall under the "of Pit Bull Type"clause & ergo can be treated as banned by the police

And crosses of all of them, Zoe. And all dogs 'of the type' known as pitbull.

Yer, sorry..stupidly thought people would just assume that anyway... :)

Arent they spelt banndogs or bandogs  something similar? I dont think it's banned dogs. Or am i way off track in this conversation :o

<The literal meaning of the Bandog is taken from Band + dog giving Bound dog which refers to large and fierce dog, such as mastiffs, which were kept chained or tied up until they were released for guard dog duties or in some cases for fighting and bull and bear baiting.>
I think they are also know as Bandogges

A Bandogge could be a Bullmastiff cross Neo, so how would that fall under pitbull type? Theres plenty of Bandogge breeders in the UK, only the ones that are crossed with Pits would fall under the DDA.

I know of a Neo x Rottie hes a lovely boy and in no way banned in the UK. :)  A Bandog is a crossbred dog from Mastiff decent.

People asume they are banned because they are called Ban-Dogs, this is not the case though :)

It all depends on what the police etc consider to be "of the type"as they are not a breed as such, I have seen an English Bull Terrier(a nice one too)when the DDA was brought in that was muzzled, tattooed, spayed & registered as a PTB ! despite having KC reg as an EBT The dog warden & police both insisted that she was a PBT !

Hi

You can check out www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/welfare/domestic/ddogsleaflet.pdf for info on dogs banned under the DDA.

From what I have seen I dont think Bandogs are banned. Please dont take offence but can I ask what made you choose this particular breed? Im only being nosy, not grilling you! They just seem so big and I would imagine  they require quite comprehensive care.

There are some sites about Bandogs if you type the breed name into your search engine.

Good Luck let us know how you get on.

Mollmoo

Sorry to drift off topic, but I also know a RottieXNeo who is an absolute sweetie.  I wonder if it's the same dog?
