Well, time is up and I am taking Kirra back to the vet today. I was convinced yesterday that she might have them overnight as she lost a large amount of mucous. She is not distressed at all and the puppies are very active. I am not sure what the vet has in store, but I guess we will find out today. He was encouraged yesterday when I rang him about the mucous loss, he felt confident that things would happen in due course. But then how long do we wait before intervention? I am sure he will scan her today.
I'll let you all know how things progress.

Good luck Jodi, hopefully you'll soon have lovely puppies. Let us know how you get on.
I'm sure that he'll bring things on now as it is getting on. Glad to hear that the pups are still moving around :d Good luck and I look forward to some good news.
Good Luck Jodi, and Kirra, Hope all goes well. Keep us posted when you have time. Hope you get some sleep soon!!!
Lynn.
HI all. Well Kirra is still here, no induction. He took her temp and it is at 38.4, so hasnt dropped yet. He wants to see her this morning and this afternoon again and then he will make a decision. He seems to think she is really close in any case. There was some talk about a ceasar, although I would prefer that as a last resort. Im sure that is what he meant anyway. I am going to insist that he induces her this afternoon if nothing happens, although he seems to think she fell on the second mating so she may not be as overdue as we think. He asked me what the most important thing to me is, Kirra or the Pups. I replied that Kirra is, so that is why he is giving it another day. While, if anything happened to the pups I would be devastated and very sad, Kirra is my first priority and he can she she isnt distressed or in any trouble right now. When we were at the vets he could see milk coming from her teats and said that she is so very very close he would hate to have to interfere. We all took it in shifts last night to care for her. We set the alarm clock for every 2 hours and my 2 oldest children, 14 and 12 and my partner took turns in getting up to check her. The kids new that if she wasnt sleeping they had to wake me up, they said she was sleeping when they got up as she was when my partner and I checked her.
Anyway I am off for now. Kirra has just woken the sleepy head and wants to go pee. ( 6.10am here in aussie) She had the best night sleep...Im glad someone is..lolol
will keep you all posted..
edited to add..kirra was scanned and it indicates that the pups are well and not overly large, which had become a concern. The vet thinks about 4-5 which is what he though by palpation. Pups are very active. Kirra spent the better part of yesterday nesting, which she hasnt really done yet..well not like she did yesterday..
I just wanted to wish you all the best. Kirra still sounds very comfortable, although I'm sure you are eager for things to get going. Your vet is obviously happy to let her be at the moment, which is good. Hope you don't have too long to wait. What breed is she?
Best Wishes, Tracey.

Glad that things seem to be going OK. Hopefully Kira's good long sleep was getting her ready for the job ahead. Oohhh, still got everything crossed that everything goes naturally and that both Kira and the pups are well. Good luck.
Diane
Hi Tracey, Kirra is a Husky. All is still quiet here. She is doing more nesting, but so far that is all. Her shape has changed overnight. The pups seem to be getting ready for the move I suppose.
Will keep you updated
Jodi and Kirra
The nesting looks like a good sign, so does the shape change.
Perhaps you will have some good news for us today.
Good Luck, Tracey.
HI all. Nothing as yet. The vet wants to leave her and check her day by day. I was sure she would have them last night. She had heaving panting for 2 hours and seemed very uncomfortable and very restless. This morning as we speak she is asleep looking like she hasnt a care in the world. I am so baffled.
Jodi

You poor thing. How many matings did she have? Was it just the two or did she have more?
Hi all. Perrodeagua, she had 2 matings. Have been to the vet, she has a light green discharge. They are doing a ceaserean tomorrow if she doesnt go tonight. They say it may not look good for the pups at this point. I have been bawling all afternoon. I am so worried for her, and of course that the pups will not be here with us. I am also worried about kirra's behaviour if the pups die. It will be such a sad thing for her to endure. And if the pups are alive, will she reject them not having actually given birth, but just waking to them?? I have a thousand different things going on in my mind. The vets did an internal exam and said she has started to dilate, but they said that she might have started that a few days ago. Her vulva is getting swollen also. It all points to her having them tonight I think, but then again you cant be sure can you? Do you think that the internal exam might get things moving along, especially as she has begun dilating?
I would appreciate any advise you all have if you can spare some. I am so heartbroken for my girl
Jodi

Green discharge normally indicates placental detachment, which between whelps is notmal, but prior to whelping would for me indicate a C secion as a priority. I would be insisting by now, as surely your vet should be trying to save the litter too, and it isn't as if a C secion would endanger the bitch any more than any other procedure under GA.
I would insist on the c-section now. Things have been going on too long. I hope that it does all turn out OK, but if it doesn't I'd be querying a few things.
Good luck, I do hope that a good ending comes of this.
I would insist on a C-section immediately. Otherwise you could lose the pups.

If you are going to have any live pups, then I think that your bitch needs unzipping ASAP!!!
This was my thoughts as well. However the greenish discharge is very pale green, not the dark green associated placental dettachment. Having said that, they are not sure wether this is the start of that or simply a sign of something else. They are in short, not sure. They want the ceasar primarily as she is so far overdue. it is now 8.30pm, kirra once again is panting very hard and off in her own little corner, I am hoping with all my heart that she does this tonight. I am so worried and wish I had my thoughts all together this afternoon when I was there. This has been such a worrying time and while I have said before that kirra is my main priority, I am devastated that the pups might not live. I rang the vets about an hour ago for reasurrance, they feel that since the pups are still very active, that things might pan out. Kirra is well in herself also. she has had no more discharge, which they said is a good sign as she didnt have much to begin with. They told me that had she had the dark green and not the pale they would have taken her there and then.
Does anyone think that the internal exam might move things along?
Jodi
