Does anyone know where I can buy a beechwood blind made to measure? everyone I find in the shops are slightly too wide for the recess I need it for.

Whereabouts are you Porkie ?? if you have a shop called 'Perfect blinds' near you they should do them
I take it you mean wooden venetian blinds ?? Or try a company called Rufflette  they do a whole range of different blinds 

Have a look in your yellow pages, I got a local company to do mine and they were much cheaper than some of the bigger companies :)
