Just a quick question .. does anyone know how soon you can have a bitch spayed after having pups .. after much discussion with my partner we have decided to have both our girls spayed as we dont want to go through the stress and worry of possibly having 2 bitches in pup together or risk the now mum to be getting caught again too close to having these,, my initial thought was to have my male done but as my  girl is a bit of a houdini at times id rather not take any chances on her getting out in season and being caught by the mutt up the road (figuratively speaking) ..

The best person to ask would be your vet. My gut instinct would be to spay when there's no trace of lactation - probably about 4 months after whelping.

My girl had a litter in December, her seasons were every 10 months and we had her spayed in April.

personally I would let her have another season & then get her done 12 - 16 weeks after the end of her season. Just because once she's off her pups & back to herself again - she'll be due in season if she is regular, however if it is difficult for you when she is in season & you want her done before her next season - ask your vet to advise on the safest time.

thanks for the advice :)... it would be difficult for me to allow her to have another season as i have 2 males .. and kids i dont want to risk an accident again,, it wouldnt be fair on her or the others nor can my purse afford it again :(.. one of my main reasons for wanting the girls both spayed besides avoiding pregnancy is also to hopefully avoid the fighting when they are in season .. they are both pretty close to each other when it comes to season and i have to seperate them from each other because the fighting gets so bad... it is strange because they are the best of friends any other time ..  having to seperate them from each other aswell as the boys is extremely difficult as they are all house dogs .. it wouldnt be so bad if they were kept outside or kennelled but they never have been and i doubt they would allow it now ..

I had mym bitch spayed when ehr pups were 12 weeks old, as she still had milk at 10 weeks.
