Can someone please explain to why people spit when they walk along?  I have seen 3 people do it today and it revolting.

Because they are vile and uncouth and they think its acceptable behaviour when it absolutely isn't?!

Because they're ignorant gits who've been very badly brought up.

I think Chloe and JG have summed it up nicely, perhaps nicely isn't quite the right word though.

Another reason may be that camera men insist on close ups of footballers spitting all over the pitch and halfwit yobs think its the thing to do, I suggest we do what used to be done with puppies (thankfully not any more though I hope) a big beefy Neanderthal should be employed at all football matches for the sole purpose of rubbing the footballers nose in it when they spit on the pitch.

Have to admit that this did cross my mind...

Make sure they get their noses rubbed in other people's though - not their own ;)

When I was a child (oh so long ago) there were notices around warning that spitting in public was an offence and liable to a fine. This was because it was one of the main ways of passing on TB :( :(

When i used to live in Hong Kong, there used to be warning notices about spitting and if caught people would be fined.

Got to say it was probably the young girl collecting her sister from ballet which I thought was particularly awful.  My son did try it once he is now in the Kevin stage of his life I dont think he will do it again in a hurry. :)  I told him if wanted to act like a baby I would pull his trousers down and smack his bum.  He hasnt tried it since!

Its not even limited to kids either

It's the ones that wretch and snort and get as much up as they can and then spag it out that makes me literally sick!!

I always wonder why footballers would want to roll around on other players spit, essentially thats what theyre doing ;) I doubt there would be a patch of grass on the pitch without a goozy on it!

There was this girl that used to spit when i was a kid,we all thought she was tough and cool :o I'm sure her mum was very proud of her,LOL

Bit different for athletes/footballers to control really, it can build up and they can hardly be expected to carry tissues with them and then carry it about until the end of the race/match !. No excuse for idiots in the street though. I asked my 16 year old niece why young lads do this and was it because girls of her age think it looks 'cool' - but no, apparently most youngsters, male and female also find it disgusting !.
