i have a dog and he goes for a short walk in day and a long walk and ball chase at early night. he looks forward to this and squeals at the same time at night to remind me. my neighbour has a huge white boxer in a 2 bed terraced house with a two by three ft garden. but the dog never goes out. when i go out of my house, he is always upstairs looking out of the window. i dont know if hes locked in the bedroom. she can be heard baby talking to him so i know she must love him. he is only about two as far as i know. can he really be happy like this. when i first moved here i was very worried. but now i am sure hes loved, i think. what do you make of it. mind your buisness my o h tells me
hi it depends on the dog seems does he seem under overweight ? does the owner erhaps take the dog put when you are not around ? i take my boxer out early morning and late night mot offe the time .

Could you offer to go walks with her for company or offer to walk him for her?

Hi Guest,
I agree with points both other members have replied on ;) It may be that your neighbour takes this dog out when you're not around - For eg. I'm often up half the night so around 4-00 am if I still can't sleep my dogs get probably the longest walk of that particular day and we don't meet a soul :) They would then be exercised again at tea time so their usual mid-day doggie friends wouldn't perhaps see them for a few days in a row - we're very flexible :D OR it could be this Boxer isn't good with other dogs or people and HAS to be exercised early mornings or very late evenings so it can get a good run about safely?
But as the second poster suggested, you could always mention to your neighbour that you could either go out together for walks now and again or depending on how the conversation goes offer to take him yourself. It is a tricky one but it would at least set your mind at rest if you could strike up a conversation with her as a fellow dog lover and try and establish what exercise if any he has been getting. It's easy to jump to conclusions but it's also nice that you're a concerned neighbour too. HTH, Teri :)

Yes, My dog isnt very social around other dogs so we go out at 5am and again at night where he will get a good run around (and a quick one in the afternoon on lead) so many dont see us out, my neighbour stopped me on my way to work and said that they were going to report me to the RSPCA  I said, look out your window at 5am tomorrow moring and you will see us.. She has said nothing since....not even an apology. So just tread carfully :)

2 by 3 foot garden ?? are you sure ?
Yvonne

Just enough room for a boxer (if it doesn't want to turn round!), Yvonne. ;)
the dog mabye able to do a quick wee LOL. we have a rescued boxer bitch and she was used for fighting she can not be walked when other dogs are around as this frightens her so we walk her late at night and ealry morning, there is not alot you can do i.e. reporting her if you dont see any bodly harm i.e. cuts and brusies underweight. you could go and see the lady , perhaps she has difficulty in exersing the dog.

Hi Box Mad,
I agree with you, There could be reasons. Unless the Dog is sufferiing,
why make it homeless. Think of the consequences, before acting.
We are all different, so are the dogs.
My heart goes out to your Boxer, Poor girl! Thankgoodness you have her.
That is when people orto intervene.

Walks out, wees, reverses in again? :D
we rescued phyllis from letbr two year ago and belive it or not she has come on leeps and bounds. she had a split tail and you could get both hands around her waist and count every rib she now weighs 34kg a bit over weight i now but she is in good health . she has just selebrated her 8th bday she has had a stroke and is going blind and deaf, (seems to be when she wants to )!!!!!!! we love her to bits and want to meet the callis owners , no thats to polite the rats who through her out and show although she may bark at dogs on her lead she is a lovley well behaved lady in the house, she is great with children and would not swop her for the world.
no dog should be etheir made homeless or put in rescue unless there is a PERFECT reason why .

I work full time and I exercise my dogs before 05:00 hrs and after 18:00 hours, nobody is around or awake when I take them out so I am sure they think mine never go out either.................

My neighbours dog never gets walked either,so i take him out with my 'boxers' twice a day most days,it can get hard with 3 dogs off lead

Boxers are very high energy breeds,if this dog isnt getting any walks he must be going out of his mind!!

Did you say youve lived next door to this dog for 2 years??
I would go over and a have a friendly chat with your neighbour and then maybe offer to take the dog out for a walk when you take yours out. However tread carefully as you dont know the owners situation, you really need to talk to her before making assumptions :)
IMO yes it is cruel to not walk a dog, lettalone a Boxer!
