Hi all, the last week i've noticed Nina licking her vulva alot she's 5 months old, so i had a noise and noticed a bit of blood stained around the outside, she's to young isn't she for a season, is this normal cycle for her age?

Warm regards

Hi Frank,

It could be a touch of cystitis or other urinary infection?  Is she peeing more often than usual - having tiny dribbles rather than seemingly emptying a full bladder?

Is this your B/M?  If so it is pretty early for a season but it's not strictly speaking impossible.  Have you checked for any swelling of her vulva?  Also try dabbing her there with a dry white tissue when she wakes up in morning (better when they've been lying around sleeping for a while as that's most likely for blood spots to show ;) )

Heck I ask more questions than I answer  - sorry, Teri :P

She isn't weeing more, it's not so much blood dripping it's just dried up around the outside of her vulva.  It doesn't look the same shape as it used to, i wipe it with a baby wipe because it is flaky dried blood.  It's been happening now for the last week, i did have a look in my book and they can have a season this early but i'm not sure as it doesn't seem right, she has been cleaning herself alot down there. I dont know if the blood is actually coming from that area because it's just on her skin on the outside, yes it is the bullmastiff.  The more questions you ask it gets you nearer to the answer.

Warm regards Susan
