Topic Dog Boards / Health / Worming?

Hi, as some of you know I have a Parsons Terrier she's now 6 months, last month when I wormed her with one Milbemax puppy/sml dog as prescribed by our vets and she had a bit of an upset tummy, but I expected that, I was given two tablets for this time however weighed her and she's only 5.2kg so not heavy enough for two tablets as discussed with vets. But today she not only has an upset tummy (asked to go out at 6.00am this is very unusual as buffy is not a morning dog and your lucky of she gets out of bed before 8am!) she is also very quiet and sleepy, and just wants a cuddle and hasn't touched her food. I will take her to the vets if she gets any worse. I'm going to ask for something different next time but has anyone else experienced this with this wormer or any other. Any feed back would be great.

Differnt worming treatments affect dogs differently. I usually hear of drontal making dogs sick, but its not unheard of milbemax doing the same thing. I would reccommend trying something different next time.

both drontal and panacur make my little one very ill.  The only treatment he can stomach is milbemax.  It is supposed to be tolerated quite well, but panacur is the most gentle.  I would try that one, but speak to the vet first.  I also find that giving the tablet with lunch is better than with breakfast, but that might only work for my pup.
