Back in Jan I booked a holiday to Gran Canaria, 6 weeks later our flights were changed and we were given the option to cancel which we did. The holiday comp instructed us that we would get the refund back onto my credit card 7-10 working days, which never happened. To cut a long story short after several phone calls and promises of a refund a reported the company to ABTA, who are now seeking my refund. It has been 3mths since I cancelled the holiday and I am concerned that I will never see the refund, let alone all the interest on my credit card (hol was £750 so thats alot of interest building up every month).
Any ideas what else I can do or should I leave it to ABTA??

Have you involved the credit card company, they offer protection for goods bought with their cards that may cover this situation they certainly might help fight it anyway.
We cancelled a holiday 3 years ago due to the fact that the flight times were changed. At that time if your flight change was more than 12 hours( which it was) you could get a complete refund. We went to the travel agent we booked from and she requested the refund for us.We had the credit card refunded the following month but we had only paid a deposit the change was made before we were due to pay the balance. We were told that if we had paid the full amount then the refund would take longer....hope this helps

I will phone my credit card company tomorrow and see what they say. It was a last minute booking so I paid in full when booked, should have gone Easter week

Most Visa cards still offer protection against purchases which include holidays and even more so that the holiday company is ABTA. I would let them chase it for you if you are covered.

I had a similar problem, and having realized the holiday comp. was doing next to nothing, informed the credit card company. While they chase it up, the credit charge should not be charged interest. It took almost 6 months (I think the legal time requirement for credit card companies to resolve these issues is 6 months), after which the charge was deleted from my card, no interest paid. I assume the credit card company got their money in the end back from the holiday comp. I believe all UK credit card providers are required to guarantee purchases over £100 in case there is a problem such as above, but I might be wrong...
