Hi Guys

I own a hairdressing shop and when we got our new stainless steel effect metal sections they rubbed baby oil all over them and told us that it would protect tem and continue to make them look shiney.  however they look a complete mess now and continue to have hair stuck all over them!!!  does anyone have ay idea on how I wold be able to get the baby oil off the metal?

I would get back to the supplier and get them to refund or replace them :) If they knew it was a hairdressers when you bought them there shouldn't really be an issue :)

This is the product I was told to use by a guy who fits kitchens for a living

Thompson, I use Mr. Muscles window cleaner for anything that shines except windows! I use it for mirrors, stainless steel, my kitchen work tops, tiles, laminate floors, the trick is as soon as you have sprayed it on, wipe it off again until it is completely dry with kitchen towel, use as much kitchen towel as you need but make sure it is dry!

Baby oil does work but only if used in small amounts and polished off with a dry cloth.  It certainly wont protect the fittings but is a good way to remove finger marks etc.  Removing it... Don't add water!!  I'm afraid you'll just have to get some dry cloths and give them a good polish.  Nothing will protect the steel apart from if it is treated when it is being manufactured.  There are plenty of cleaners out there for stainless steel but the trick is not to overuse them as it sounds these guys have with the baby oil-a little goes a long way! :)

thanks for you replies.  I guess I am going to have to buy a stack of kitchen roll and keep rubbing to try and get it off then use someting else..  Thanks for all your replies :-)
