Hi
Can you help I won't to get one of my Samoyeds Hip Scored.
But!!! I have heard of so many being lost under anaesthetic.
Does anyone know of any vet's that do it under a seditive instead.
Regards
Denese

Tell us where you are.

I have just had 2 done today under sedation, if you are near I can give you the details. Vet also gives pretty acurate idea of what score will be.

I know of one in Southampton and one in Lancs, but hopefully someone will come along soon with one who is closer.

De Montford Veterinary Hospital, Merstow Green, 01386 446095 will give an estimate, and only uses a light sedation not general. Means you can arrive and take your dog home after x-ray is finished.

I use Peter James in Bromsgrove, he's just off Jcn 1 of the M42.  I've found him to be very good, gives a sedative which he then reverses & he is also pretty good at giving you an idea of what the score will be.   His phone number is 01527 874852.  He has an answer machine on which tells you the best times to phone.

Good luck :-)

Hi I took mine to the Evesham practice someone has already mentioned ( Merstow Green). Shouldnt be too far from B'Ham just about 20 mins from M5 Junction 7. Ask for Mr Lewis.

amos how far is that from staffordshire?or does anyone know of one near to me?
- By colliemad Date 04.06.05 15:32 UTC
whereabouts in Staffordshire are you? Merstow Green is my local practice and they really are excellent. Mr Lewis can be a bit abrupt but don'6t let that put you off he is a fantastic vet if you can tolerate his manner  ;-) If you PM where you are I can give you a rough idea of how long it will take you to get here :-) I can even come up with a route if you like.

:-D :-D :-D  I have always thought of him as an "old school" type vet. Although he is very up to date he doesn't sugar the pill (so to speak) he says it like it is. There are 3 vets there I have a preference for and he is one of them. It is a very good practice and my boys drag me in and sing in the waiting room every time another dog gets to go in before them, they actually love it there! LOL

This is not my local vet but I take mine for hip/elbow scores. I like the big waiting room, makes a big difference when you have a big dog. I was very impressed when they brought me a coffee in a proper mug too ( not from a machine).
