Absolutely, why not take some of your own advice Lindsay? If you don't like something or it doesn't interest you, why read it?
Spaniel lover, i am interested in helping, so that is why i read the thread. Is that clear enough for you, or do you need more help in understanding?
Do you have any advice for the OP or are you joining in to stir?

I understand perfectly, thank you so much for your concern. :) However, perhaps you missed the point to which I was referring, so let me explain: if you don't like people's posts, don't read them if they don't entertain or involve you, rather than raise issue over it. That would avert threads descending to the level at which this one is now.
In addition, I had no further suggestions for the OP to those made prior to me joining this thread and subsequently not being a fan of the "I agree 100%" posts, hence my not adding anything to that subject. And I can wholeheartedly assure you that unlike others, I have
plenty more to do with my day than stir. :)
Have a nice day! :)

Why start this all up again!!!!!!

That was completely out of order Lindsay.
I have looked back through your posts and I haven't seen one thread where we have clashed, or even commented on the same subject recently - so what gives you the right to criticise me on a post I haven't even commented on? And the hypocrisy of criticising Mel and not JG who WAS the active member in this discussion is staggering.
In the past I have seen PLENTY of examples of the "old timer" regulars sticking together and being rude, abrupt, sarcastic and downright nasty to new posters in the breeding section - so, perhaps folk who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
Chloe,
It was not out of order at all. We haven't clashed because i so rarely post on a thread that gets taken over because by that time the OP has probably given up. It doesn't mean I don't read them.
I'm not hypocritical - yes JG did start the ball rolling but as i said, i am not just referring to this thread but to many threads of similar ilk most of which i don't think she has been involved in.
As for the glass houses analogy - I am rarely if EVER rude, sarcastic, and certainly never intentionally unkind or cruel to anyone. I never gang up on peeps nor do I bully.I'm not interested in cliques nor being popular even because all i care about is the dogs and their owners.
You have deeply upset people in the past by posting behind their backs yet you object to what i have to say? Should I use the H word?
I'm not going to get into a slanging match on here so I suggest now we have all had our say, we revert to PM or put it to bed.

I don't recall using your name directly in relation to this? I was raising an example of how this board can be - which is why I am so intrigued you chose to single our Melody and myself.

I suggest you contact me by PM very quickly with your proof and substantiated evidence. You should be very careful about what you are accusing me of.
I don't intend to get overexcited about this. Please don't try to intimidate me either, because it won't work.
I agree, this board can be very bad sometimes. No of course you didn't use my name directly but the inference was there, and obvious.
As i suggested, if you want to continue this via PM, do so.

No. You made a claim that I posted behind folks backs - I am not sure how I could post about someone on a public forum "behind their back" but perhaps you could enlighten me? Either substantiate it or retract it. I cannot think of ONE post I have ever made about anyone behind their back, and seeing as I only post on here and a totally unrelated horse group I would really appreciate it if you could point out where these "posts" are please.
I didn't say you posted about members of the forum, Chloe.
I am happy to post about it on here but it is probably against the TOS to do so. This thread is getting rather personal and i don't want to get chucked off. I can post more info via PM.

Dear Guest,
You could try charcoal tablets, available from any health food shop at a cost of £2.99. I bought some at the weekend. They are also very good for weims (and any other breeds) if they have eaten something that they shouldnt as the charcoal absorbs nasty gases and other things that might be going on in the tummy. I have a male weim who occasionally gets a rumbly tum and I give him 4 charcoal tablets and he is normally ok within a couple of hours.
I hope this helps.

Hi Guest
My danes can have this problem if their food is changed or certain human foods are given.
They currently have raw tripe and Burns - but if chicken or turkey (cooked) is added as a treat it goes straight through them windwise.
I would honestly see it as a sign that the food is not 100% suiting her - perhaps you could try Burns instead? Its a very palatable food. I often mix NatureDiet Chicken & Tripe with my dogs food - but again, that was trial and error. Any other flavour gives them wind.
Good luck.

I would look at your dogs food,as has already been said,if your dog is popping off more than is usual then it is most likely the food is the culprit :(
As for the other issue on this thread, to be fair i personally think JG is just as bad as Melody when it comes to these particular things, dont want to be seen as taking sides now ;) and while i'm at it,spaniel-lover your starting to sound like a broken record :o
Honestly something really does need to be said about this,i think most of us have sat on our hands in the past Lyndsay, which is probaly why the same things keep on happening if you get my drift ;)
>i personally think JG is just as bad as Melody when it comes to these particular things
I know! We're very naughty, and keep asking questions, to be clear in our minds what's been said. We'll stick to guesswork in future!
:) :)
Frodo, you'll need to get up earlier in the morning if you want to antagonise me ;) :)

Spaniel-lover antaganising you was not at all my intention,,i'm sorry if i made you feel that way :) It's just that youve been popping up in a few threads lately, not contributing but only saying the "if you dont like it leave" bit, just because someone doesnt like a handful of people on a board does not mean that they should leave, dont you think? :)
Perhaps you would like to demonstrate where I have said such a thing? :)
My only point is the frequency at which certain posters try and stir up trouble by insinuating certain things against other posters. If there's happening within a thread that is of no consequence to me, I don't read it or reply to it, some appear to do so just to just others backs up. But I'm certainly glad that you are kind enough to take notice of my posts. :)
frodo you made a very good point i totally agree with you 100% :)

When dogs get "windy" we do tend to think about the food we feed them. We less often take into consideration all the other rubbish they hoover up throughout the day, grass, cow muck, other peoples scraps left by the wayside, etc! Not to mention drinking from disgusting puddles. I wonder what percentage of their intake is actually deliberately fed some days!
It's not suprising they get windy when they've indulged in things they shouldn't - just like us!
Dear all. Thank you for the time you have taken to give such a detailed, helpful and informative answers. I am working my way through them all. My first step will be to get some charcoal biscuits as that can be tried gently. I am already giving her live yogurt, which has helped a little. It was very interesting to read the comments with respect to the "rubbish" that some dogs eat in addition to the given diet. This is VERY relevant to my dog as she lives on a large country estate and it is impossible to stop her eating the occassional deer or sheep dung, plus whatever else she sneaks on a run. I would like to reply to each of you individually but unfortunately have not got time this evening.
Thanks again for all your advice, I shall take stock and let you know how we get on. I'm glad to know that it is not an uncommon problem as I have been so careful with what she eats, how much and when. It helps to know that there are other dog owners out there to turn to.

The poo eating probably has something to do with the smells :)
Glad to see you have read the helpful comments and didn't comment on the other stuff going on! :D
Sometimes there are some lively debates/conversations going on that do go off at a slight tangent but hey that is what this forum is so good and often very entertaining ! ;)
So long as people realise it is not personal and normal service is resumed pretty quickly :D

How rediculous this thread has got did someone inform you Chloe that your name had been mentioned so you could bring the whole topic back to the fore and jump on Lindsay like a pack of dogs, why dont people stop trying to demean others and just help with advice. It only shows your own insecurities when you have to stoop so slow to get a reaction, it's like going back to school with some lost kids who need to prove that they are there for attention but it's an adult world now, in other words grow up!
Warm regards Susan

Hoi ! Just as we thought it was safe to go back in the water

The OP has managed to ignore all the hullabiloo so PLEASE don't start it all up again :(
Teri
Teri dont worry i dont wont to stair it up it just gets on my nerves people arguing all the time, it's best to keep an open mind when it comes to knowledge, everyone has something to offer and if the person is well off track put them on the right track there's no need for sarcasim or anything else.
Hi guest
My staffie is possible the worst at this and we have tried several different diets. The one that makes him a little less stinky is Barkers complete light.
Its great to get the unwanted guests outs the house, but when its that bad, even the dog moves after he has let one rip.
Good luck

LOLOL @ Margot :D
>hope you got the message about charcoal biscuits etc<
Perhaps Admin should email "virtual" ones to posters with reply notification - less hot air all round
Teri, so chilled hardly got a pulse
Hello again!!
Have now started introducing the charcoal biscuits!! I have struggled to find out the percentage contained in some brands. Has anyone got any recommendations as to the "usual" amount in available biscuits and the recommended dose?
I am being careful also not to increase her calorie intake as I hate to see over-weight dogs. If anyone has any suggestions for good brands and where to get them I'd be grateful.
Sorry I appeared to set off a warm hot aired debate between regular friends!! Hope the air has cleared now!!
Thank you
