Hi all, has anyone any advice on the best way to introduce my dane puppy to our golden retriever? their both boys and our retriever is the most gentle loving dog ive ever known, so im not at all worried about him turning aggressive or anything, just wondered if anyone had any ideas on how to introduce the two for the first time :)
Hi Mel
I was advised to use a crate, and let the older one sniff the baby. It also gives them time apart so when the pup is asleep give your other dog some time with you.
Have you got him home now? I am jelous, I want mine home now... :(

Hi Mel
When I introduced mine I took them out onto neutral ground and introduced them there we then walked back to the house let the elder of the two in first then let the pup in, Hilda was a little grumpy at first but soon came round:D

I was advised by my breeder to introduce my first pup (now over 1 year old) to my older dog by having pup in a crate and ignoreing any and all behaviour until the older dog settled down. After tha, open the crate and let them introduce themselves slowly :) It worked then and it worked recently when I got another pup :)

Aaaaw, Hudson :) Wouldn't you just know he'd be a gent

I think I might even like him more than the big blue dug who sends indecent text messages ( like I believed that one)
Anon (cos she'll come after me if she guesses who it is :D )
Thanks peeps! Hi sarah, picking him up next thursday, its really irritating waiting isnt it? Did you decide on a name yet?
We are definately going to call her Breeze (as long as the breeder remembers thats the KC name we picked). I am going back next Sunday to see her when there will just be 3 of them left, they are keeping one male and one female. She is ready to come home this weekend, but due to my wedding, I have to wait :(
Have you decided on a name for yours yet - your KC name was far too long....
