I am looking for a dog trainer in my area (Newcastle) and have the list of APDT trainers but could anyone personnaly reccomend one? The first one I phoned from the list told me to read Jan Fennells book and mentioned he had 15 dogs in one class so I have dismissed that particular one.
I am after some one to one training with classes eventually when Charlie is able to handle them.
I have spoke to Charlies behaviourist and even asked Angela stockdale but everyone tells me there is no-one they would recommend.

I've no personal experience, but I attended a seminar given by Carrie Evans among others and she seemed very approachable.

How far are you willing to travel? And what are Charlie's problems?

I'm not far from you, but to be honest good trainers in the north east are hard to come by! I'm setting up myself, but that's just training not behaviour, and it sounds like you need much more expert help.

Re Angela Stockdale, are you going to the workshop in Leeds? I travel down from Sunderland to her doggy social groups, it makes such a difference.

We saw Carrie Evans in January and after following her advice regarding dog to dog agression it wasn't working although we saw huge improvements with his other problems. When we asked if there was an alternative to the method she had told us to do the answer was not what I wanted to hear.
After phoning around 4 different trainers in our area we have settled for Ian Hall of Triple A  so we go off to see him a week on Saturday.
They were all members of the APDT that I rang but what a difference in their opinions and methods of training.
I am going to see Angela Stockdale in July but only as a spectator as there were no places left for Charlie.
We did consider going down to see Angela but I felt if problems ocured I would like someone here to assess him again if need be.
I have heard time and time again that good trainers in the north east are hard to come by.
