hello, feeling a bit sad today, just had their tails and dew claws done, they seem all ok though, straight back on to the nipple and guzzling away. i just feel a bit bad about it all, the vet was very nice and only one is oozing slightly. I don't think I will have to have another litter done if the law has its way so at least its over and done with.

mine is due on the 23 june and she is still running around like an ideat,
in another thread someone said about x-ray and scan's, well she had a scan when she was 4 weeks and the lady could only see 4 and so could i (every other scan she has done for me has been about right 1 or 2 out) but this time i think that she is well out, she is bigger now (6 weeks gone)than on her last litter at full time, and she had 6 then, i know it was 18 months ago but to me she does look bigger, a lot bigger.
i phoned the lady that does the scans and asked is their any point in coming again just to cheack but she said no as it will be to late as the puppies would be to big to see,
i did think about haveing her X-rayed but when i asked my vet last time he said that he does not recomed it, is this coman.

why do you need to know how many there are ?? no scan or xray can be 100% accurate. you may just have to wait and see

I have never relied on scanning, other than to determine the bitch is pre4ganant, and that it isn't a singleton!
I have had the vetr say 3 and gotten 8! a more experienced vet specialising in scanning said 5 or 6, and we had 9!

one of the reasons i have a scan is to also make sure that it is not a singleton, but i also think that it is handy to know how many their are is it helps with the amount i would increace her food(as one of my bitches would eat as much as you give her and then the other dogs to) so it would be easy to over feed one of them, and if you have a ruff number you know that it will not be to long say after the 5th was born (say she had 7) :). i know the bitch should now when she is finished but i was at a friends house ones 20 old hours after her bitch had whelped (i did not go to see the puppies) but the mother came to say hello and i asked how many she had had and was she finished and they said 4 and yes, she got on my lap and i had a quick fell of her(not saying i know what im doing) but i could feel something, so they phoned the vet and tock her down, she still had 2 more,(she had a jad off the vet) the first was dead but the second one was fine, and over 1 day younger then the rest of the litter
so i just think that it is handy to now

Gawd Diane that's gonna be a busy time for you then. I moved house just a few months ago and wouldn't hurry to do it again, can't imagine what it would be like having a litter as well. Hope it all goes well :-)

Thanks. I am just trying to keep calm and make lists! I have about 200 things to do, top priority a whelping kit in case she comes early. The move hasnt fell at the most convenient time but we'll manage.
