Hi I have a 10 week old Shih Tzu puppy, I have to wipe the puppys eyes everyday because the fur gets sleep in it, will I always have to do this or is it something they grow out of?

Any tips on keeping his eyes clear will be greatly appreciated!

my sheltie has had the same problem since she was a pup(she's now 5!) the vet thaught it was conjunctivitis at first, but turns out its not and have been told just to wash them out daily.ive been using saline solution.contact lense cleaner works well and doesnt harm the eyes. you can also buy eye drops from most pet store, although these can be expensive and either human eye drops or contact lense solution is cheaper and works as well.if the problem continues, you could have her checked by the vet to rule out any problems, such as eye infections etc. but like my sheltie,it could just be her tear-ducts dont work as well as they should and nothing to worry about!

I've hear dpeople describe them as 'eye boogers' my friennd has a lhasa and she belongs to a few sites where shihtzu owners frequent, here are some remedies she has heard about:

no tap water, give only distilled water
A vitaminC tablet daily
probiotics

These are the only ones i can remember off the top of my head,if i think of any more i'll post them :)
