Topic Dog Boards / General / insurance overlap?
- By lucyandmeg [gb] Date 31.05.05 21:15 UTC
I have been hoping to change insurance companies for a while now and have been waiting to put them all on the policy together. Meg and ellie are currently insured, with tesco, but i want to change this as they only cover conditions for a year and don't offer lifetime cover. Murphy as yet isn't insured. Ellie unfortunately has just had to have a lump removed so we are in the middle of claiming from tescos and so i can't cancel the policy until that is all over and done with. However i would like to get them all changed to the new insurance company asap (i have a feeling murphy is going to be accident prone!!) and to save the hassle i want to do it alltogether. THe overlap would only be about a month or so if that, so i understnad it would mean paying 2 premiums one month which i don't mind, but is there any legal reason why a dog can't be insured by two companies at the same time? I know ellie's lump will now be an exclusion, but on the tesco's cover she wouldn't be covered for more than a year anyway.

i dont see it being a problem if you inform tesco's of the change, and tell them when you are going to change.you could always start a new policy to begin as soon as the insurance with tesco ends?

you would have to overlap because when you first take out insurance they dont cover you for illness in the first 14 days anyway
