My Antivirus keeps on finding viruses Trojan something and backdoor. It says that they are deleted but they still keep on appearing all the time. How do I get rid of these viruses totally or is my computer knackered !!

Is your anti-virus software up to date? Do you need to go on-line and download new anti-virus bits and pieces? I have Norton and have to keep it up to date, as new viruses are coming onto the scene all the time.

I had the same problem- unfortunately Spyware etc. don't do the trick where Trojans are concerned. In the end my home computer got so messed up (and it was ancient anyway) that we just got a new one with the most updated firewall etc. Sorry can't be more techical. I would recommend that you don't waste your time on the anti-spy software you can buy online; I tried this without any luck, the trojans wouldn't get wiped out and all the other trackers were allegedly removed- for all of 5 minutes! Could you get a pro to come and have a look? And make sure your dial-up isn't being used to dial out to expensive porn lines!
ps. I hate this stuff, my computer got so messed up that in the end it would only redirect me to hard-c*re p*rn sites, including kiddies, no matter what address I typed in the address bar. And this all started when I was looking for some animal related info online, clicked on a link innocently named in the style of "medical care for pets" or simila, and something horrible involving children turned up instead- this is when all the trojans and trackers must have been downloaded.

Hi Soph - this nasty "p*rn" problem also happened to me (including the kiddie sites - unbelievable) - they used to load as my default page on IE and no matter what I did I could not get rid of them. In the end, I had to call in a software expert from work, who, after about 40 minutes, finally found where it was hidden on my pc and zapped it. An expert may be your only answer I'm afraid.... :(

Download
SpybotIt should be able to tell you (after it has run through) what the name of the trojan is ...
If you already know the name of it you should be able to follow the instructions to clear it at
SymantecHTH :)

Thanks Melodysk.
I am up-to-date with my Antivirus, it seems to delete it OK but there must be something vulnerable in my computer as it keeps coming back. I can't afford to buy a new computer, they're too expensive and this one isn't that old. Why can't people grow up and stop doing things like this?

Is your firewall upto date? this will have a major impact on new virus's getting through. Are you on broadband? if so you will need a really good firewall not a freebee off the internet.

You may NOT have got rid of it properly, sometimes the anti virus programmes can't. Follow the advice I gave using Spyboy and Symantec and you should be free of it :)
It depends on how your antivirus works. Mine flags up when it finds a virus attack and asks if I want details or to just delete it. Are you sure this is not whats happening?
