Just trying to while away the time, reading all posts, whilst I wait to call the vets. Maddie went in this morning for biopsies, endoscopy. Had the results from last friday, did loads of blood test. Vet said she has very mild liver infection and her white cell blood count was low, but not low enough for concern? They wanted to open her up again (last time was in February with that bowel problem) but I just couldn't bring myself to let her through that again, or maybe I am being selfish/silly but hopefully they won't need to and can get what they need today. God its awful this waiting game.
Took her to Barton Marina on sunday, she was fine and enjoyed being out all day, didn't let her do any water training though. Molly went in and absolutely loved it, she' five months, but you'd think she'd done it a hundred times before! Just went straight in, did a retrieve even a 'sunken' one, went on the boat and just thoroughly enjoyed herself. Bless.
Well thats passed a bit of time, think I'll just 'lurk' about for a bit longer

Thank you Margot, just phoned thinking it was 12 they were doing it only to be told to phone back at 3. So now I've even more time to worry :)

By the way, does anyone know what can cause liver damage in dogs? Or is it something that just happens, though I don't see how?

Hi Dee,

Just seen your post about Missie - gosh, it's been a long day for you :(  Everything crossed here that all goes well when you hear from your vet.

Take care, Teri :)

Well, vets have said she has red patches/sores on her stomach, and throat (I think) which was abnormal, and her tummy was full of fluid. Sending samples off and we will have to wait a week or two for the results. Picking her up later.

Poor thing - best she's glad to be home with Mum!

Sorry you've not got any definitive news though - fingers crossed for test results.

For what it's worth, I would be inclined to give her a couple of spoonsful of active bio yoghurt with a spoonful of honey a couple of times a day - it's not going to hurt, and it may well soothe/help heal her throat/stomach.   If she is on a/bs as well, it will help her stay in balance.

I've got some manuka honey (sp) I will try her on that.
She's still a bit groggy, bless, but I'm keeping her quiet in the corner.
They say it could be helikabaktor (I'm really no good at spelling unfamiliar words :)  ) and there's a few more red spots in her tummy and her throat but they've sent off the biopsies' so got to wait patiently now :(
I nearly passed out myself when she gave me the bill !!
She's not on any anti biotics, perhaps they didn't want to give her anything until the results come through, which I think will be Friday, earlier than I was told before.
Thanks for listening though, its much appreciated

Dee
