Topic Dog Boards / Health / scraping front feet and clumsy

Hi all one of my girls who is 9 month is very clumsy tripping up over her own feet, after a walk the other day i started to get a little worried, she must have tripped dozens of times, i have noticed that her front paws the 2 toes in the middle have got shorter claws than the rest due to her scraping them all the time when walking.  any advice welcome  thanks

I would take her off to the vet and see what they say.

Yup, definately the vets.  What you describe is ringing bells in my head but I'm having a senior evening

Unfortunately I'd get her to the vets it could be something neurological.  Hoipe all's OK.

LOL at Dill. :-) Its exactly the same for me - I KNOW these are the symptoms for a recognised condition but for the life of me cannot remember what!!

HMM

Even if I could remember I wouldn't necessarily mention it online as it would be irresponsible of me.  The best thing that the poster can do is take her pup to the vet and give as much supporting info as possible ;)

Hi all sorry to not reply sooner, could you tell me the name of this please, if you cant show the name on here will you pm me pls thanks.

I'm very sorry but even if I were a qualified vet I couldn't possibly tell you what it might be without seeing the pup and taking a full history.  This is why you really need to see the vet.  It would be extremely irresponsible to try and diagnose over the internet.  The thing is, it could be something or you could be worrying over nothing, your vet is the best person to advise you if you are concerned about this ;)  Please let me know how you get on.

Please do take her to the vet today, this could be something serious.  Only take her out  to do her business, dont take her for any proper walks until you have found out what this is.

Been to the vet this am, he said not to worry she is probably just clumsy, and doesnt pick her feet up, she runs fine, and she stands fine, so fingers crossed and i will be keeping a close eye on her, thanks all.

I hope all goes OK.  My friends dog had something similar to this, the breeder didn't notice anything but when she was homed with a family she had the same symptoms.  She is now on tablets and will be for life but she's much better as she did get quite bad within months.  Hope it's not the same thing but even if it is it can be helped.

Keep us up-to-date with how the dog is doing.

If she is still doing it in a couple of weeks time I would go back to the vets and meanwhile do a bit of research yourself on some vets sites.
