Bought a dog crate for my Rottie cross 8 years ago. Less than 2 years ago I lent it to a friend and it looked like new. She gave it back a few weeks ago. I nearly cried :( :( It is bent, one of the door latches if missing it is tarnished, was shiny when I lent it to her even tho I used it for 4 years. But worst of all, the bottom and slightly up the sides are rusty :( :( (not a sign of rust when I lent it to her) I pressure washed the newspaper off today but I the rust is still there and I cant see how I am going to get it looking anything like it used to look.
Another Mate is going to weld the front back on (which is unattatched at the moment thanks to her) and was thinking about useing something like primer and hamorite to paint it all over, but anyone got any other ideas????
I really want to get it looking good again as it cost my mum and Gran £130 and it looks as if even a scrap yard wouldnt take it now. I really do feel like crying. I am never going to lend anything to anyone again :( :( :(
I wanted it to use for my rabbits in the wonter, but wouldnt even put a wild rat in it at the moment :( :(
Lea :( :(

Get your friend to give you some money for it ! If they give it back it should be in the same condition as you lent the cage to them. I would ask them and see what happens. :)

That's so unfair! If ever I borrow something I return it in the same condition. If I've damaged it, I replace it. Although I appreciate it's very difficult to do, could you mention to your friend that the crate needs repairs, and you've been advised that she should to pay for them?
