Hi Can anyone help.  Caring for friends dog while she is away! Has given birth to her pups at 62 days.  All went fairly well, first time mum needed a little help with one.  Not done this myself before.  A little concerned that the last pup's sack had ruptured before birth.  Mum ate the placenta before we could get to it to check all there as he needed some help coming round.  After whelping mum had a bright green discharge from her vulva, is this okay?  This morning she does not look paticularly happy, but she could just be a bit bemused.  Is feeding and cleaning them.  The pup is shaking a lot is this normal?  Any help would be really grateful.

I'd phone the vet, bright green discharge is not a good sign.  Give them a ring and I hope all goes well.

how are things going? dont   know if its   the same but  when my cat had kittens, they all shivered a bit  for the first few days as they cannot regulate   their own  body    temperature.make sure they are not cold.you could try turning up the heating a little.but be careful that its not too warm either!

Green discharge after whelping is ok as long as you know for sure she has finished.  Did you get her vet checked once she had finished delivering to confirm?

When my girl had finished she had green running out for a good day or so afterwards, I was following her around with the mop!

Hi, Spoke to vet yesterday and she is having a check up today.  Looks perkier today and has now eaten a light diet.  Thanks for all the help and kind advice.  First time I have done this and not even my bitch!  Never mind all good experience for when I breed my chocolate labradors next year.  Pups are gorgeous and really good sizes and healthy.  Shaking stopped now we turned up the temp a bit.

Must admit I thought that too!  I'm on a committee of a Club and have two events where I won't be able to go, firstly because my mum's Pom. is due to have pups for one of the events and then one of my SWD's is at the next event.  Not exactly good timing, but both getting on so had to be mated this time round :d

Hi All,  Thanks for you kind thoughts.  Vet check went well.  Shes a bit underweight and needs building up.  Gave her antibiotics as she had a slight infection, but pups are healthly and doing really well.  Just a thought about going away when pups are due, my friend came back today and came to visit them all.  But, got a nasty shock when she was growled at!  I hope we don't have a lot of work reintroducing them back together.  Maybe she is just feeling insecure.

You must be looking after her too well for her to do that to her own owner :d  Glad to hear that all's OK and hope it continues to be.
