I have a girl on day 59 here who is bright and seems happy ...up until yesterday she was looking quite round today she looks like she has got her figure back ..now i know the pups will be getting ready to be born ..when she was mated i measured her at 17inches across bottom of the ribcage and she was 22 inches yesterday so i measured her this morning and she is still 22 but looks much slimmer ??? I can feel a pup moving on the right side but i am not a great one for prodding about .has anyone else been worrried before at changes like this

I am always amazed by the changes in shape, we are on day 65 and Sasha changes shape every day, If I had not had her scanned I would almost think there were no pups, but like you say it has all dropped down and I think the pups are lining up to be born (I Hope getting very nervous here). During the last few days the spine can become quite prominant. I hope that a little help

Thanks for the reply .... I have to admit i looked at her this morning and thought ...where did they go ?

My bitch's spine really kind of 'stuck up' the day before the birth. its very odd how they change shape so drastically. but her 'jammy doughnut'  [kids term for it but quite apt! ]  flopped about, it looked like she had testicles from a distance!

I think they change shape from day to day.. some look in whelp the whole time others play tricks.

As always though if you are worried nip her along to the vets :-) good luck.

The pups drop down lower when they are ready to be born. You can literally see a change in shape overnight. :)

thanks all...she is fine today looking round when she lays down ..... but has changed shape! a little soft in her motions this morning so am keeping a close eye she is day 59 from her first mating
