Hi Everyone

I am soon to be the proud mum of a beautiful choc lab bitch puppy, I have read all the books & spoke to many other dog owners but was wondering if any of you can give me some advice on those precious first few weeks??

Thanks in anticipation

Gem

Hi Gem,

Most important part - enjoy them :)  They don't last long!   Why not join - it's free and simple to do?   You'll probably find that your new holy terror (sorry, little darling ;) ) has you up to all sorts in the first couple of months never mind weeks so you may well have lots of questions.  There are lots of Lab lovers on board already who'll be delighted to meet you too - and we all like to hear about puppy antics .

Regards, Teri :)

HI I would get the "Book of the bitch" By Kay White and Jim Evans and read it cover to cover. Also "the Perfect Puppy" By Gwen Bailey

If you have room in your kitchen ( or where she is going to sleep) the best advice I can give is to  buy a crate for her to sleep and nap in, plus 2/3 pieces of  veterinary bedding to fit ( not from the pet shop - to a google search for best prices)
If you get it now and she sleeps in it from the beginning she will soon love it as her "den".  Feed her in it and later, as soon as she is getting sleepy pop her in with the door open if you can supervise her. Lab puppies ( I have a choc lab pup too) are notorious chewers and a crate will keep her and your belongings safe at night or if you have to pop pout without her for an hour or two. They are invaluable if you have small children/undoggy visitors too.
ebay is the first place to look and get a 36" one. I have just bought a brand new one on ebay for £27 + delivery which is an incredibly good price.
