Hi guest, I dont want to put you off the idea, after all we all had to start somewhere, but there is so much more involved than just finding a dog for your bitch. There are health issues involved in most breeds, a lot of expense, time off work, finding really GOOD homes for the babies, etc.
A good place to start is back with your bitches breeder. Hopefully she came from a respectable kennels, and if that is the case her breeder will want to look at her, find out how good her temprement is, and then advise you of which health checks should be carried out. After all these items have been covered, ( and taking it the breeder is willing to lift any endorsments on your girl) they may then advise you about which stud dogs may be suitable for your bitch. You will the have to start the whole process again with the stud dog owner. Hopefully all will go well for you and I wish you the best of luck if it all comes together

Hello,
I would say like the others go back to your breeder for advice.
However many years ago when I started I did just that and got
lots of bad advice, and did not realise they were not good breeders,
until the penny dropped, so to say.
Ring your breeds club up this is a start. They maybe be able to
help you.
I would say that health checks such as hip scoring, eye testing,
maybe hearing depending on what breed.
It is also not just that you want a litter of pups, you need to know
what you might produce, so you need to go back to the breeder.
Check that their is no breeding endorsments on your k.c.certificate.
Make sure she is k.c.registered. Find her pedigree up, so that you
can find a dog that ties in with your pedigree. Find out if she is a
good specimen of your breed as we all think our dogs are fab.
