Hi Racheal I did reply to your first post
Your pup looks pure-bred to me, we had the same problem with Cyrus our 10 month old husky boy because he is shorter haired than most huskies people think hes a cross breed or even a collie, Cyrus is the more athletic looking side of the breed rather than the more chunky american showing type. A link to his website is in my profile
Hi Cyrus, I did reply to this once before but it was all deleted I think because of the personal links on the messages? Anyway, I have a 16 week BC pup and it has been suggested that he is a Husky or Malamute cross, does that make you feel any better? ;-)
They are both gorgeous and look like huskies to me but what would I know, I bought a husky cross as a BC :-D

If she is not KC reg then I'm afraid you can't be 100% certain that you have got a pure bred, however even then there's no certancies!
What worries me is you can register puppies if a parent doesn't happend to be hipscored. The KC to not say the health checks have to be done or else (unfortantly!)
I do not know enough about young sibes to be able to say if she looks normal compared to other sides. Assuming you have also brought a "pet" the qulity in looking like the breed you see at shows is not going to be the same.
However what ever she is you can still love her, she does look adorable! :)
for some reason my first post seems to have dissapeared???!!!!! i have no idea where it went!!!! i just found it disheartaning(cant spell!) when someone just comes up to you and says that.although im not sure how much she knows about sibes when she breeds shitzus!!!!! :-)

Think you might have answerd your own question! :D
I know it's disheartening. I have been told (and had a good 10+ min debate about my breed that had been off rare breeds list for over 10 years!) that it does not exsist and I have been conned and we have conned people because we had bred a litter!!!!!!!
We also have irish pointers (A what!?!?!) working springers!!!
My grandparents have docked their border collies!

So I know what it's like! ;)
i tried to have a look at cyrus but the picture didnt display??! my old computer i think! i'll keep trying!
docked border collies??????!!!!!!!!!! you learn something new everday!
Looks like a husky to me. Can i ask who are his parents? always interesting to see new husky peeps on the board

Piccys should work Racheal but if they dont just let me know and I`ll e-mail you a few, your girl is very lovely

I think the poster probably means the pups couldn't be registered as the sires papers were endorsed and to remove the endorsement the breeder required the dog to be hip scored.
Poster if the dogs owner does this and the endorsement is lifted your pup could still be registered by the person who bred her, assuming of course that the scfore was Ok.

There is of course a serious side to this discussion that hasn't been touched upon. Whether the pup os purebred or not should not be in doubt if he were bought and bred by a reputable breeder that breeds sthically.
I am curious why you riked buying a possibly unhealthy pup who may not even be purebred? You seemed to be aware that the sire at least was not health tested, and the names of the parents do not show any affix (kennel name) which any serious breeder would pay the kennel club to use on all their pups.
As long as people are willing to by them so called breeders who brign al pedigree bree3ding, if not into disrepute into a not very nice category. If people insisted that their pups came from top class examplesof the breed bred with the maintenenance of the breed standard in mind, and most of all HEALTH TESTED parents then these people would have no market and would have to stop taking shortcuts and buck up their ideas.
With average luck your pup will grow up healthy (not through any care of the breeder) and of course loved.
I've got Huskies and he looks pure breed to me although only the breeder only ever knows this for certain. Why do people tell you he doesnt look pure breed? Is it people who dont have experience with the breed. Good luck with your pup he looks lovely to me, enjoy him. Sharon. Oh and welcome to Husky(mad) world

at that age he looks very huskish to me (prob dosent mean much as i only really know about BCs)
he looks lovely too! enjoy your pup, some people say hurtful things in an attempt to appear knowledgable!
one of my BCs is quite flecked on her legs. NO she doent have any spaniel in her!!! for the hundreth time!!!!

I can't get to see the picture of your puppy.
But!! could it just be they had a litter and Not!! being breeders,
didn't Reg; them. or they had an second litter in that year
off the same bitch, and they wouldn't have been able to Reg; them
Just a thought!!!
Regards
Denese

Denese anyone who allows their bitch to ahve a litter (accidentally or on purpose)is a breeder and should take on board the same responsibilities, whether theis be their first and only litter or their hundredth. The puppies and the new owners should expect the same from them.
I have often heard the excuse 'I am not a breeder' used to somehow excuse lack of responsibility or proper standards in breeding, I just don't get it?

Its definately people who dont know much about the breed who ask if hes a collie, anyone who knows Huskies be them owners or breeders (reptutable this time) says straight away what a lovely husky he is.
But really when it comes down to it we adore him whatever he is, but if we decide our next dog will be a husky too (Cyrus hasnt put us off yet infact hes making it more and more likely) we have done the research and know which breeder we would like to approach about a possible puppy

Yes it's a bit like saying "I'm not a parent" if you only have one child!! ;)

I agree brainless, But as you know they are not! all responsible breeders!
If they were won't it be great!
There would be no thorough breds in any dogs homes ect:
Unfortunatly until you get among the breeders, or get your pup
and get to meet them. You can be very nieve.
It takes time to learn about these things, from people like yourself.
Regards
Denese
I feel the same about unAffixed dogs. Its a shame that your pup has no papers, but for the next one go and meet other husky people. Which area do you live in then we might be able to find other owners in your area.
Terry

That is the sad thing that people don't or don't know how/where to research :( Those breeders unworthy of the nem literally cash in on this lack of knowledge and give good breeders a bad name.
what does unaffixed mean? i have pedigree papers for her which has details of 4 generations.its just that the dad wasnt hip scored but mum was, they both had clear eye tests and saw both mum and dad at the breeders home.both were in good condition and very friendly.i wanted a husky as a friend and companion and am not worried about champion bloodlines or anything, its not the breeder that made me think shes not purebred,it was the comment that was made to me,which made me wonder why she said that!also,i was given a care sheet with her details and the breeders details(which said breeders of distinction on it)does that mean anything???
"her parents are sire= paperback writer dam= zyashka mulliusha"
Hi Rachel
by unAffixed i mean that the breeder has no Affix or has not put it on the pups names. All good breeders do this to show that the dogs they have bred come from them. I am not in anyway knocking your breeder.
When we started in the breed and wanted to have our first litter we felt that it was very important that they have our signature on them.
This is from the KC website
A Kennel Name/Affix is often likened to a trade name and it will differentiate your puppies from those of anyone else who breeds within your breed. The Kennel Club protects and maintains over 70,000 Kennel Names/Affixes and produces a Directory which will help you select your own unique signature.
Cheers
Terry
