For companion shows(formerley exemption shows)your dog does not need to be KC reg, they are held all over the country, some are only small with a few classes but some are massive events with loads of entries.
Most of the CDs round my way are held in conjunction with the smaller agricultural shows ie those that don't already run anopen show but some of the bigger ones have a companion one day and an open the next. Branches of the RSPCA etc also often run them during the summer.
Keep your eyes open in the local press or phone around your local aniaml charities as they may know of some.

Hope this helps
Emily
PS remember that the same rule about not showing pups under six months applies to companion shows altho I have heard they are 'flexible' ;)
