Does anyone know if you only need one of these forms if you haven't got travel Insurance.

You need these forms as well as having travel insurance. They are easy to get and just take a couple of photocopies with you when you go on holiday. Hope that helps. :-)

Thanks mackleback we've always had them but my daughter and her boyfriend are off to Italy and her boyfriend and his family had never heard of them. He thought if he had insurance that was enough and it made me think.

Looking at the booklet it says that the E111 isn't an alternative to insurance - it's extra security.

The E111 is being replaced later ?this year, by a card so when you fill in your 'free' application at the post office the new card to replace it, will arrive automatically when the time comes.

You have to fill it in tho' and get it stamped or whatever - I carried the blank form about for years lol :rolleyes:
