Hi everyone,
Really looking for some good recommendations for a Natural Healthcare book for dogs. I have Dr Pitcairn's book already...but not overly impressed to be honest! Suggestions for both herbal remedy books and for complete natural care would be welcomed! Don't want to waste my money as some of these books are really quite expensive!
Thanks for any help!

One author who has stood the test of time for me is Juliette de Bairacli Levy.  She has books on herbal and natural rearing.

I have The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care by C.J. Puotinen which is quite good. Another book by the same author is Natural Remedies For Dogs And Cats (I've not read that one though)

If you search for books on Amazon.com (not the uk site) you can often click on the book to see the contents page, index, etc and search the book for key words so you've some idea of whether it'll suit you. :-)

Hi Pam,
yep, busy spending too much time on the Springer forum. ;-) :-D  Also a few late nights/early mornings with cows calving so I'm kna**ered....worth it to see the end product though. :-)

Hope all is well with you.

I have shelves full of them! Almost all from Amazon UK. It does depend a bit on what you think makes a book good.. but my recomendations are: (in no particular order) All you ever wanted to know about herbs for pets - Mary L Wulff-Tifford a good comprehensive easy reference guide but can be a bit vague about dosage although there are some interesting recipies for basic ailments. Natural health bible for dogs and cats is similar but also has a section where it is easy to look up by ailment, not quite as well presented or comprehensive on herbs as the former. The well connected dog (accupressure) looks useful, although quite complex and I havnt had a chance to read it yet. Canine massage looks more likley to be read first as it looks a bit more straightforward. If you are looking for a homoeopathic book, I think thatt dogs: Homoeopathic Remedies is probably the easiest to use again due to its referencing system. Finally and I know it isnt 'natural healthcare' but I still find it really useful is The Dog Its Behaviour, nutrition & health, although I have to say this one was quite expensive partly because it is a standard text.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

OOps nearly forgot Herbal dog care - is good if you want to know about more general things such as, what suplements should I use for an aging dog? Again can be vague about dosage.
