I have posted on here with this topic before - the owner of this condition being my 7 mth old JSI. As suggested I "starved" for 24 hours, and it cleared up.
The problem I have is that, when he rigidly sticks to his dry food and dry biscuit treats, he's fine, but I am about to start recall training and have loads of not-so-dry treats in ready. I am almost certain that these are going to be a no-go, as I am pretty sure they will make him squitty again.
Does he just have a sensitive tum?
Any suggestions for bland treats that can make him enthusiastic enough to succeed at recall?
Is there anything "natural" I can feed him that may help with the squits?
Thanks for help (as usual)
Cheers

Have you tried cooked (baked) liver? My girl has a very sensitive tummy, she's food intolerant to almost anything but this doesn't affect her at all and will do absolutely anything for a morsel of liver :)
The only dried treats Maddie can have is her food so, as you can imagine, training held no interest for her at all. That was until I discovered she could have liver!

Oooh, I've ordered 4 bags of that (I also have another JSI) so I'll give it a try. I was also gonna take a handful of Cheerios :)

Oh ok :o I just assumed everyone makes the liver treats themselves,DUH! Hope your boy does well on them :)
Take it easy with the liver, too much makes the majority of dogs very, very loose

I only give it her raw once a week and cooked on sundays for training, but only one sliver at a time :) so far so good. Saying that she hasn't had any for two weeks cos she not well at the moment but thats another story :(
Like Frodo said, be careful and go easy on the treat :)

LOL - no, some of us just don't have the inclination - it's all I can manage to cook the OH's dinner :)
I know I have to be "sparing" with the liver (it's just freeze dried raw liver) - can you suggest anything else that would be attractive, but not cause a squitty bum Frodo?
Thanks :)

Baked chicken breast or steak always goes down well, also baked beef or lamb heart. But you gotta make all these yaself ;) :p
It's really easy just bung them in the oven on around 180 until suffiently cooked and cut them up into bite size pieces. I dont give any commercial treats as my dogs wont eat any of them..sigh...
I hate cooking for the OH,but i enjoy cooking for the dogs :o

Thanks Frodo - that's easy - even I can just bung something in the oven :) (well, just about!) :D
I have the same problem with 2 out 3 of my dogs. I use Cheese Strings for agility training as they can stay in the packet and you just pull out as much as you need without it crumbling or getting sweaty. Before I discovered that cheese is ok I used to take out an amount of his dry evening meal and use that so he wasn't having any extras. The other thing that usually works is liver cake, do a search on here for the recipe or PM me, but the amount of liver in it makes it suitable for most senstive dogs and yet it still smells of it. ;-)

I don't recall the brand name, but my supermarkets carry treats that come in small tubes. There are several types for cats and dogs. They are freeze dried fish or meat.

Cool - what's the name of your supermarket ? :)
i dont know what you feed at present but my dog suffered this for months and i bought naturediet worked a treat no more squits maybe worth a try but obviously dont just do a straight change over from the food you feed gradually do it or find out from the vet what it is via a blood test i found out that my dog has colitis which is the reason he was that way
