Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Where do Ob.TRAINING INSTRUCTORS train?? (locked)
- By Guest [gb] Date 25.05.05 10:07 UTC
I just wondered do Obediance training instructors belong to a training club themselves in order to train THEIR dogs?

do they meet together and if so do they take it in turns to instruct?

Do they tend to feel in competition with each other and do they get on well together.

Just one of life's littlue curirosities.  Instructors MUST want to train as well - so what do they do?

Any Insturctors out there who could let us know if and how they manage this?

All depends on whether the Obedience trainer is training for competition or pet training & don't forget pet training classes are really to train the owners to train their dogs away from the club not to actually train the dogs. Competitive training clubs do focus more on teaching the handlers & dogs the exercises that occur in the Obedience classes & so the dogs & handlers are trained there

I socialize my puppies at pet training clubs but do my training at home & with friends

they do not generally take it in turns to instruct but everyone needs a coach and another pair of eyes if and when there is a problem.

no one ever stops learning or trying to improve and all dogs are different and sometimes handlers can be too close to a problem to see a solution, hence they ask the help of someone equally skilled.
