Hi, my bitch is now on day 53, we have resisited having her scanned as we had heard some conflicting advice about this. She was mated twice and tied both times she has definately put on weight, has been off her food throughout and been quite sicky i have also noticed that the last few days she has been losing a small amount of whitish discharge. however i have not yet felt any movement, is it possible not to feel any movement or is it likely she is having a phantom? You probably gathered this is my first litter.

Any comments would be appreciated
Thanks   Clair

Hi,

I have a bitch on day 62 and never felt movement, her last litter was 8 and never felt them either(think its her build) I use a stethoscope every morning and pick up the heart beats. I start around day45ish, but can take a while to pick up.

ive just ordered a stethoscope should be here tommorow, where is the best place to pick up the heartbeats and how will i tell the puppies from the mums heartbeat?

Thanks  Clair

Mothers heart beat is louder and slower than the puppies.  It is harder in bigger dogs to detect I beleive. I think lying them down and do it while they are totally relaxed and moving along the sides of their tummy.

Hi,

My bitch was quite big with the first litter, but all over big if you see what i mean...

This time she is not very big at all, some days you wouldn't know she was expecting.

Only a couple of days to go, really nervous and excited!!!!!!!!!!

Forgot to say I do her lying and standing, sometimes if you don't pick it up one way try the other.
