Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / too late to show?

Hello,
i have a two year old husky who is from show winning parents and is hip score is 4/3 and eyes unaffected by hc and g. We started ringcraft at around 8 months but he was absolutley pertrified of some of the dogs, who were quite aggressive towards him. He also didnt seem to like the man who ran the classes, to be honest neither did I  as he was quite abrupt and forceful with my dog.
Anyway, i stopped going as my boy would just sit cowering and had wet himself on a few occasions. It was clear he didnt enjoy himeslf. I think one of the reasons is that i live in the country side and when on walks we never see other dogs, so the only dogs he socialises with are my own and not strangers. He is extremely outgoing at home, lively, eagar and very independant but he is like another dog at ringcraft.

I had spoken to his breeder but she didnt seem interested in helping me out, which i though was abit strange as she is highly known in the husky show world. I have been told by two judges that he is one of the best huskies they have seen, as i took him to the husky breed seminars last year. I know he has great potential but its just finding a ringcraft were the teachers are abit more understanding and have a 'gentler' approach. Does any one know of any ring craft classes in wisbech, cambs, or surrounding areas. And is two years too old to start showing? As i wont to work hard woth him this summer to enter him in the September open show, and how did i enter the show, ie do i need to have won previous titles at smaller shows etc?
As you can tell im a complete novice and any advie is so much appreciated.
Look forward to your replies and many thanks in advance,
Kind Regards Natalie.

You might want to check out obedience classes &explain the problems re previous class & that you want to show him. It would help his inter dog skills & also give you an alternative to ringcraft for him

Not sure where you live but Paddy Driscoll runs one day courses for show dogs with problems like this -I have been to one and it was excellent. Her courses are around the Lincoln area but she may be able to recommend others elsewhere, I don't know. http://www.teamworktraining.co.uk/
