I once did have a yorkie! My opinion, is they are quite intelligent, very vocal, can be a little
snappy. Some will tolerate children I found that they didn't realy like other dogs.
Good little watch dogs! cheap to feed!
Check out for there hips though, it is a bad weakness.
Some are better with children than others.
See the parents. Look at the West highland Terrier!
I beleve! they are more child friendly.
i have 4 yorkies 2 aged 10yrs,1 aged 7mounths,1 aged 6yrs and have had them for about 12 years and from my experience it is important to buy from a reptable breeder .do they get on with chidren ,3 of mine would get on with children one would not, some breeders are reluctunt to sell to people with children especially the smaller yorkie dependin on the children ,do they get on with other dogs ,the little dog with the big personality, its not impossible 2 of mine would get on with other dogs they can have a habit of chasing other dogs off if given the chance.mine are under control.they bark if they hear a noise there very loving, loyal ,intelligent have little ways of getting there way and make you love them .but going back to what i said first buying from a reptable breeder is most important looking at the parents making sure the temperment is sound.

I have always had yorkies, my favourite dogs, I bought my first one in 1977, all the ones I have had loved children, first one used to play cowboys and indians with my son who was 7 when we got her, she would hide behind the furniture and poke her head out and jump back as he shot her, then she would dive behind a different chair and so on, it used to be bedlam at times, my son shouting I shot you that time, and candy barking with excitement for him to try and catch her again. The one I lost in august 99 loved any age child, I had a 18 months old grand-daughter that lived near me when I first got her, so I suppose they grew up together, she would let my grand-daughter do anything with her, and as the family grew and the next grand-child came along she loved them to visit, but hated to see babies asleep, if they came in to the house asleep in their car seats, she would lick them to wake them up and if that didn't work, she would jump in the car seat gently to wake them, once awake she did not object at all to having her hair grabbed or pulled by young babies, and she would not move from them, until they went home. All of my yorkies have been friendly with other dogs, but all have hated cats, the one I have now really hates them, and it makes her day to chase one off.
