Hi all, I had a quote from m&s pet insurance at 10.65 pm which i thought was pretty good for no excess, then got a quote from sainsburys at just under 10.00 pm but i think with sainsburys you do pay excess, am i right? am i better off to stick with m&s??

I believe Tesco has a 12 month limitation on conditions, which is why it is often so much less than other insurances. I too am searching for the right cover at the moment, and my final two were Sainsburys and M&S. I think I'm going to opt for M&S and drop the excess. Slightly better cover too.

Yes,Tescos have a 12 month claim limit and a maximum claim amount of £3,500 I think(or thats what it was a couple of years ago).We were with them when Archer had his Knee ops and we soon ran out of both money and time so now we insure with M&S...£6,000 and no time limit

The brokers who handle M&S also do the Sainsburys insurance! I know because they sent me the incorrect paperwork when I applied for M&S cover for Spice, they put it down to staff loading the wrong letterheads into the printer. I did eventually get it all sorted and she is insured through M&S now.

I have the puppie  newfoundland on M&S, and Barbie but we were with Sainsbury's for the Dogue de Bordeaux which we still have but they do have a exess on that but more of less the same price for all comared with £15 to £26 quotes from most other insurers.

I have just had to put in a claim to M&S for the Tibetan Mastiff so will let you know how I get on

As read from Sainsbury's leaflet:

Pet Under 9 years old excess £50 for claims under £1,000, £75 for claims over £1,000.
Pet Over 9 years old excess £50 or 15% of all claims.

PS.  I'm with Sainsbury's and have found them very good.  I changed to them when my dogs were 10 years old.  Many insurance companies will not take on dogs older than 8.
