Hi
I already own a 2 year old female staffie and I am would like to get a bullmastiff. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on whether they think it would be sensible to have these two dogs living together. I do not have a particular preference as to whether I get a male or female. Do you think it would matter what sex it was?

Hi Nicola
We bought a mastiff x Rotti male many moons ago. We already had a 2 year old staffi bitch. Must say they were absolutely brilliant together, never once did we have a problem. Our staffi was definately the boss from day one lol. He could only have his dinner when she had finished hers, she would always be in bed first then our boy would lay ontop of her, you can imagine the size difference cant u lol. The only problem we had was When they were locked in the kitchen our boy would get eveything off the worktops to give to the bitch.
best of luck

Hi Guest
I was in the same problem with a 11 year old male staffie and wanting a Rottie. I was advised to go for a female becuase of dominance problems that could occur in the future. Take advice from breeders.
Good luck.
I would strongly advise you to get a male Bullmastiff as there could be dominance issues with two female Bull Breeds. Not saying it wont happen and not saying it will, but it is always a gamble when you keep Bull Breeds housed together.
However I have two female Bullmastiffs and with correct handling and consistant training, they get along fine :)

If you do decide to get Bullmastiff then you must get a male as a female will not get along with another female as it gets older. You will have to get your female speyed if she isn't already.
