Has any of you had a bitch go over day 63? And how long is it safe to let them go to? Thankyou Helen

My vets wouldn't do anything until the 71st day.  If the pups are still kicking, the mother is showing no signs of distress etc. I'd leave it a while longer.  I must admit that I'm not keen on leaving them up to the 71st day though.

My last litter was born on day 68 from the first mating (which was on day 18 of her season!).

My last litter went to 67 days, but she was mated early for her in her cycle, so probably didn't conceive for several days which explains the small litter too.

I think as long as the bitch is fine, no coloured discharge or looking unwell, then my vet lets them get to day 70, the latest mine have ever whelped is day 64.
