Our bitch was scanned at 5 weeks and was confirmed in whelp however 2 weeks before she was due the Vet suspected that there were no pups. Around the due date we had her scanned and the Vet confirmed that there was no pups although the scan should black areas in her uterus. Today 1 week after she was due she has produced a discharge. The Vet has scanned her tonight again and suggested that she should either have an injection to abort what is left of the pups or have her spayed. Any advice would be welcome.

What was the discharge like sounds like pyometra, i'm not sure though so i'm sure someone else should be able to help soon.

Warm regards Susan

The discharge is a very light brown colour, not sue if this is Pyo

If it is Pyo it can be treated if caught early and if it is not a closed Pyo if not then spaying is the best option.

When you say the vet suggested these two options tonight did he let you go home to think about it this would

concern me and I would not be waiting too long for treatment.
