If the pups get on and feed without letting got then ther must feeding. Some bitches never get really full in appearance but there is plenty of milk for the pups.

Is she cleaning the pups OK. Maybe try and wipe then with warm water and cotton balls and make sure they have toileted this is often the cause.

If they are putting weight on they are feeding.  I weigh mine every night at the same time.

Don't forget that puppies don't just squeeze they suck & use their feet as well & milk is sometimes only produced when all three happen & in other bitches they drip milk 24/7

They couldn't be too hot could they?  Generally a sign is if they seperate out away from each other. If they are cold they climb on top of each other :-)

Has anybody had any experience with mastitis?  I took pepsi to the vet this morning as after seeing somebody elses pups realised that pepsis were'nt as fat.  I know she has a lot to feed but they did seem to look a bit on the thin side this morning.  I also took her temp and it was 104.4.  I took her into the vets straight away and he thinks its mastitis.  I am now just worried that the pups wont do well.  He has given her anti inflamitory tabs and antibiotics and hopefully these will have effect in a couple of days.  I'm worried that they won't do well.

I had a bitch with Mastitis once.Lucky we caught it early and all but the smallest pup survived. It took 2 maybe 3 days for the antibiotics to take effect,She couldn't bear them to suckle from the badly affected teats so we had to tape them over with sticking plaster to stop the pups from sucking on them.We bathed the affected teats twice daily with warm /hot flannels and this helped her as they seemed to soften more.Vet told us to suppliment feed but we only had to do this twice..On about day 4 of the antibiotics she was comfortable enough to feed all pups no problem

For some reason the puppies feel really wet at the moment.  I have tried drying them with a towel and I have put a hot water bottle in the whelping box with them.  I do'nt know if it's because pepsi is cleaning them a little too much or what.  Any ideas?
