Afternoon all,

I have just been reading up on bloat and it has really worried me!  My puppy is coming up to 4 months and he eats like he hasnt been fed in days!!!  We're feeding him 3 meals a day, following the guildlines given on the back of the pack so its little but often!  What I would like to know is what can I do to stop him from scoffing down his meals, as his bowl is bone dry in literally seconds!!  He is a basset hound so they are quite susceptible to this.
Also, he often gets hiccups after being fed - is this due to the amount of air he is swallowing whilst eating?

Many thanks for your help

One solution I have read about to stop dogs eating too fast is to put something in the bowl with the food that makes them have to eat around it,something big enough to be an obstruction and small enough to fit but not small enough to swallow.HTH :)

My chocolate lab used to eat so fast that she would be sick within a couple of minutes, so what I done was to put 3 tennis balls in her bowl, she had to eat round them and so took her longer to eat and so she wasn't sick anymore. She now eats a lot slower and doesn't need the tennis balls.

If you soak the food before he eats it it can't swell so much in his stomach.
