Hi,

I have a 3 year old fawn bullmastiff who is the most adorable dog ever.  You need to take into account their size and strength.  Harvey walks brilliantly on the lead but if he wants to go somewhere you go with him.  He is gentle, loving and a joy to come home to.  We socialised him early with other dogs and children and he is fine.  My husbands 5 year old climbs all over him and he just goes along with it (thats not to say that all dogs will be the same).  He now eats dry food with a bit of meat put in and adores pigs ears, he ate differently as a pup and was a bit faddy with certain dog foods, but at last we found something he likes.  They have a lot of character and will make you laugh with their sulkiness, they will also clear a room in a matter of seconds with their wind.  They are very much a peoples dog and love to be included in everything that you do, harvey thinks nothing of getting up and sitting on your knee.  He also loves camping with us.  This is our first bullmastiff and I would never look back.  He is a joy to our lives and I would recommend them as an excellant pet.  As I said before just remember their strength and size (Harvey now weighs in at 8 and a half stone).  Just make sure the pup is from a reputable breeder (we went through the kennel club) and also make sure you see the parents when you arrive.

I hope this gives you a bit of insight into the breed.
