about 3 months ago i bought a staffie girl puppy and was told that the owner would forward her papers on to me when she received them as she had only just registered the puppy in her name and hadnt received the transfer of registration certificate back. When i bought the puppy i was given a printed pedigree with the pups details, her KC reg no and date of birth etc parents/grandparents etc.

Its now been weeks and i cannot get in touch with the ex owner, despite numerous phonecalls and emails. what is my best course of action to register her in my name as i would like to show her when shes a bit older she is from good lines. If I call the kennel club with my puppys details, reg no and the previous owners details, will they accept the puppy being registered in my name or do i have to get the signed registration certificate off her?

Please help, the woman i bought my pup from lives about 4 hours drive from me and im not relishing the idea of having to go all the way there and possibly not be able to get hold of her, but i will have to do that if i cant get the papers off her by asking nicely leaving messages on her answer machine etc

The previous owner has to sign the transfer of ownership part of the registration form.

I'm not sure how the pup had a registration number when the form hadn't been received back from the KC though. Was the person you bought her from the breeder?

Sounds like the previous owner had bought the pup from the breeder sent of transfer form and not had it back in time to give to this new owner, though why pup was changing hands so quickly again makes me a bit sad.

It may be worth contacting the breeder who may be unaware the pup has ben sold on and it may be that the Kenenl club will be willing to transfer pup to you with a note from the breeder to confirm who they sold it to and your receipt from them for payment.

Also if you have the pups kc number just phone the kennel club and i'm sure they will be able to help you.
